October brings a surprise heavy snow to the small town. At first, it’s fine. A few days off of work playing with the neighborhood kids. Mayor Logan announces a spooky snowman contest and soon Main Street is lined with freakishly crafted wonders. Everyone agrees that Macy Adams’ scarily realistic wolfman wins.

By the third week, the situation feels desperate. The snow hit right before General Al’s got in a new shipment, and the store’s been picked clean. On orders from Mayor Logan, Dr Furai and Police Chief Biggis deputize a few groups of volunteers to check on the older folks and distribute soup and any sundries that can be spared. Emmett Harald argues with the mayor that they should send a party out to hunt some food for the town.

With no other choice, the Mayor, Emmett, and a few others load up some snow mobiles with rifles and a few cases of ammo. Two days later, Emmett drives back into town alone, covered in blood. Bite marks cover his right shoulder and he raves about wolves who turn into people.

The wolves arrive the next night. Led by a massive silver crested beast of a wolf, their attack is brutal. Each night, they appear under the light of the moon killing and feasting on whomever they can find. The town’s folk fight back, but the wolves heal quickly. Then Mary-Anne Mulder remembers some tidbit about werewolves and silver. When the wolves come again, the fight goes differently. Make-shift silver weapons turn the tide, inflicting lasting damage on the wolves, giving the townsfolk a way to kill them.

A day of fighting and the wolves are on the run. Then it rises. The moon, full and beautiful, passes close to the earth as the planet crosses between the moon and sun. Under its massive crimson dipped form, the wolf leader extends her hands to her remaining family and they begin to chant.

“Tsid fier dre colenalk! Tsid fier dre kan! tsid fier dre kindir! Tsid drat lanlelnal dudr! Sier agon! Sier aln fuk!”

A strange red light falls down from the moon, washing everything in a vermillion rain. Emmett Harald screams as the light touches him. He tears at his clothes. The mark on his shoulder glows red and coarse hair sprouts from his body like weeds. His bones snap and crack, rearranging themselves into a bestial configuration. He leaps on Mayor Logan, tearing their throat out, then jumps over the makeshift barrier and runs toward the silver-crested wolf.

He doesn’t make it far. The corpses scattered in the street, steep in the light. Now they rise. Dead wolves stand first, their fur matted with blood. Then the bodies of the defenders stand, but they no longer resemble anything human. Their bones twist unnaturally as they skitter across the ground on all fours. The dead wolf and dead things descend upon the wolf formerly known as Emmett. Flesh tears as they rip him limb from limb. Then he too stands with the dead.

In a ragged wave of teeth and bone. The dead creatures rush both wolves and townsfolk. Their eyes empty and their mouths wide.

Welcome to Dead Moon! You are a member of a small town in Montana. A freak snowstorm has blown in, isolating the town from help and supplies. Power is limited - mostly generators. And long range communication is impossible (short range radio is fine though!) To make matters worse, a pack of starving werewolves has arrived to eat you! Fortunately, you find a way to fight back! Then during the Super Blood Moon, the werewolf leader casts a spell that transforms anyone bitten into a werewolf...and it raises the dead - human and wolf! You're not sure if that is intentional, but the undead are attacking the living on both sides.

This game allows you to play as a human Survivor and as a Werewolf. You must have at least one Survivor in play to enter the game as a Werewolf. All details are in the OOC thread.

However, you can absolutely ignore the Werewolf part and play only Survivors!

Population is about 900 people

Al’s General Store is the major shop in town. It sells everything from farming equipment to groceries

The main hwy is route is US Route 12 running east and west and US Route 89 going north and south

The high school mascot is the Hornets

There is one "unofficial" library run by an intrepid volunteer. It's collections are mostly donations.

Amazon built a distribution center just outside the city limits, but it never actually opened.

Notable People

Granny Opal (She/her)- the oldest resident in the town. There is a rumor that she’s a witch. A common Senior prank is to throw bulbs of garlic in her yard.

Al (he/him) - Owner of the general store. Everybody likes Al.

Police Chief Biggis (She/they) - Presides over three deputies. She is sort of in charge since Mayor Logan died (and joined the undead legion).

Winona Witko(She/her) - Runs the town post office, but also manages the library.

6 or less - You die! And must pick one of the following options:

Your wound was from a wolf bite - you transform into a Werewolf. Follow the rules to convert your character and continue playing as a Werewolf.

You die and your corpse raises as a twisted zombie.

7 or better - You survive

Any option that says Survivor may also be used on a Werewolf

7-9, Pick one

10+, Pick two

You avoid injury or exhaustion. If you do NOT select this option, you become wounded or exhausted, and suffer -1 ongoing.

You get a bystander to safety

You offer first aid to a wounded or exhausted Survivor, erasing their -1 ongoing

You help and support another Survivor, giving them a +1 forward

You show a glimpse of the Hunter you might one day become. Permanently Improve one of your ratings by 1.

You may improve a ratings more than once, but the maximum ratings you can have are a +2, two +1s, a 0, and a -1

You wound a Werewolf, giving them -1 ongoing

You discover a way to get to safety. (You'll need to use the next option on the list to use it.).

Any option that says Survivor may only be used on another Werewolf unless a Survivor has used option c or d on your Werewolf
